Sundial

I came up with an idea from The Clocks lyrics rather than the usual clocks but as the old fashions natural clocks used before. I think it links with the lyrics of a short amount of time and the wishing well, it has a strong amount of concept with nature and wishing wells. That Man Made.

Time is running out for us

Stranger & Stranger

This is designed by a company that just concetraits on packing in wines, spirits and beers.

Fantastic work. Very classic design and suits the the types of drinks.

The style is still very traditional to beer covers but simplifyed making it less busy. Uisng gold silver and bronze size makes it look more of special editions.

Packaging is also important how will it hold the drinks. This is a very traditional packaging used to be cheap and cheerful but they have used as an advantage to produce something that has an vintage style which works well with the beer.

Layout and Typography

The red background makes the typography stand out more with white. Also an interesting title of a book cover.

The inside cover is inverted inside. this could be a interesting idea I should use for my booklet. This again has random stand out title like the daft answer to the exam questions.

This is simple layout but what stands out for is the side quotes which would be usefull for my design context book and revise book.

This is one of the Shakespeare Sonnets. Ans I took photo's for this sonnets as a sonnet in Cumbria very aerly in the morning (4.00am).

Simple and cleaver ideas (equal rights) and very colourful. Design looks very fun and child like.







Witty and very personal style. His work is very modern today.

The full stock makes more interesting and makes it stand out more with the bright bold stock.

Having a typography in the centre looks simple but should be used with a purpose.

Mustard Design

This is a simple design using bright block poster. Using just the beginning of the letters this could be making it more catchy. The bright coloured typography separates the black smaller typography smaller with the information.

This is the idea I am looking for as a style and concept for my Shakespeare's sonnet using typography over image and had a romantic fell very organic and about nature.

This has a hand render typographic and matches with the photographic imagery with the dull murky tones.

The photography imagery suits the description it looks like you are looking up at the sky lying on your back.

This actually reminds of the new film where the wild things are,

This again has a magical the trees in the mist.

Marks and Spencers

At the Marks and Spencer gallery in the Leeds Uni showed the history of the store and also its changes. This was a perfect look at primary research for looking old design to try and make country cakes have a vintage retro look.

This is the vintage version logo for the Marks and Spencer logo for the exhibition. Seems that having this old fashion style logo all connects to having circles.

This is a booklet shows what they sold and show how out dated they are.

These posters are a great example using a cheap and chearful concept, using limited colours and in very basic design. This is makes it look like a vintage style.

Shakespeare Primary Research

I went to the Shakespeare Globe theater I collected information about Shakespeare the tools and equipment they use to keep close to the history.



Got slightly wet it doesn't have roof! But the stage is stunning with marble effect painted on wood. Reds, golds and green gives it a rich luxury colours.





Inside the Globe Theater has a fantastic huge space and the tour guide explained that the used the same materials would of been used 400 years ago. The stage at the top of the ceiling is ment to represent heaven and the stage is earth and underneath the stage is hell(a bit of a interesting fact).



This is the amazing costumes used in the plays still set at the shakespeare time 400 years ago. The costumes are very theatatical and use exspensive materials like silk and used deep colours to show wealth usualy reds and purple would be used to show money roylatiy at that time. This will be looked at further for styles and colours for the sonnets reflect on this.



But also has an organic hand randered effect. Using what was used around them.





This is an example in the theater showing one of the sonnets but not as orignals. It has used an main image to contain on the subject mater involving the type of leaf. Also used calligraphy typography to show it age relating to Shakespeares history. But I like the use of ripped edge paper give more of an age to it.





Calligraphy typography splashed ink and smudges also give it a hand render fell just as the costumes and props used on the stage.



This is a postcard I bought from the Shakespeare Globe gift shop this is used in the same style but using bright colours makes it more modern and would attract younger audiences
