The first Move

During christmas at Cumbria I work at a supermarket and I notice that I cake company that I love because they taste amazing, but sadly dont sell that well because of the packaging doesn't protect the cakes and gets crushed. so I am country cakes ltd to offer to design some packaging for free and sent a few logo designs to show ideas. this was the email i sent him and the logo designs, you can also see these deign on my PPD blog.

Dear Peter Yates,

Firstly Happy New Year

As an avid Country Cakes consumer and fan (especially the lemon and coconut cake!)
I do hope you don't mind my contact.

My name is Claire Birtwistle and am a Graphic Designer in my final year of my Degree course at Leeds College of Art and Design, my home
being in Cumbria.

I have notice that your packaging for the cakes tends to tear and open somewhat too easily and are unprotected from being damaged. I therefore thought this would be a good opportunity to ask if I could design a packaging solution which may help prevent this happening?

This would be as a non profit input from myself (being a fan) I am more than happy to treat this as a project, and have already created a New Country Cakes logo
design you may wish to take a look at?

If you are interested what I have come up with and would like to take this further. please reply to this e-mail address. again, I do not want to make any profit from this,

I just want to build a good portfolio and get some experience working with other clients.

Thank You

Claire Birtwistle

He replied back:

Hi Claire,

Of course I would love some help, you must be psychic!

You're right, it has become more of an issue as we've grown ( even though we are still a tiny business), particularly with the large cakes, and Asda have approached us with an interest in the cake portions, but want an acetate box?

I hope you're up to eating more cakes than you would normally, I can't expect you to work without being fed!

Let me know how you want it to work.

Regards

Peter
